The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is largely divided into the division of obstetrics responsible for pregnancy and childbirth and the division of gynecology that deals with diseases occurring in female reproductive organs.
In a broad sense, the division of gynecology deals with all diseases occurring in women—including infertility—ranging from juvenile girls to elderly women.

The Chung-Ang University Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology operates the Women's Healthcare Center, which provides primary treatment services for all diseases associated with women as well as diseases occurring in female reproductive organs. We have established a one-stop treatment system and a collaborative system with other departments in order to prevent female patients’ inconvenience and confusion and provide swift, accurate treatment services.

Women's Healthcare Center includes the following clinics:
Gynecologic Cancer, Pelviscopy Clinic, Infertility Clinic, Menopause and Osteoporosis Clinic, Sex Clinic, Beast Clinic, and High-risk Pregnant Women and Fetal Abnormality Clinic.
In particular, our Pelviscopy Clinic is outstanding. We introduced pelviscopy for the first time in domestic universities, and we are taking the lead in distributing techniques and expertise in pelviscopy through annual training programs and domestic and overseas academic conferences. We have remained no. 1 in pelviscopy in Korea.

We utilize pelviscopy for most gynecologic diseases including gynecologic cancer.
[Uterine myoma, adenomyosis uteri, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, endometrial carcinoma, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, etc.]

Gynecologic Cancer affiliated with Cancer Center proactively applies up-to-date expertise in cervical cancer, endometrial carcinoma, and ovarian cancer to treatment. We are taking the lead in the treatment of gynecologic cancer, especially in laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

One of our other characteristics in the field of gynecology is myolysis, a procedure that shrinks uterine myomas without hospitalization or surgery.
The division of obstetrics deals with the treatment of normal pregnant women and high-risk pregnant women, diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, fetal surgery, and operation of the congenital deformity center. By operating the congenital deformity center, we perform early operation and treatment for heart diseases and gastrointestinal diseases of newborns. In addition, we perform FISH and state-of-the-art ultrasonography and conduct genetic examinations such as chorionic villi sampling, cord blood testing, and amniocentesis. We remain no. 1 in the intrauterine diagnosis of congenital abnormalities in Korea. In addition, we provide fetal treatment for fetal emphysema, ascites, urinary tract obstruction, fetal anemia, etc.
Lastly, we assure safety childbirth through thorough care of high-risk pregnancy cases such as old-age pregnancy, twin pregnancy, toxemia of pregnancy, and fetal growth retardation as well as our neonatal ICU’s high-standard treatment.
