The Department of Infectious Diseases, one of the internal medicine departments providing diagnosis and treatment for various infectious diseases caused by germs, viruses, fungi (mold), and parasites.

Since fever is not a specific symptom for infectious diseases, for patients with fever, we judge whether their conditions are an infectious disease or not and then provide professional differential diagnosis and antibiotic treatment.

Various communicable diseases such as typhoid fever, cholera, bacillary dysentery, malaria, tsutsugamushi disease, leptospirosis, Korean hemorrhagic fever, measles, tuberculosis, and AIDS are handled by the Department of Infectious Diseases. We also advise or provide cooperative medical consultation on other departments’ patients who show signs of fever.

In addition, we operate the infection control room to manage and prevent hospital infection, which is an important issue these days. We conduct a hospital infection survey, take care of patients infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and provide isolation education. Lastly, we provide medical consultation and treatment regarding the side effects of drugs including antibiotics, drug interactions and control, vaccinations for adults, and disease- preventive measures during travel (malaria, yellow fever, etc.).
